Fun Or None- What! Wednesday

Three books that shocked you to the core and what? (SPOILER POST)

1. Mockingjay (Hunger Games Trilogy)
I was so upset when Primrose died like what she was the whole reason for the start of the book series and she dies like no. I couldn't deal with it.

2. Pandemonium (sequel to Delirium)
SO I finally came to terms with Alex being dead and started to like Julian but damn you Lauren Oliver apparently Alex was alive being tortured and now tortured even more by seeing her with someone else!!

3. Shadow Kissed (Vampire Academy Series)
Dimitri getting captured and turned are you serious him and Rose were meant to be! I did read the rest of the series and everything all works out but still!

What 3 books shocked you the most?

Fun Or None Top Tuesday! (Dystopians)

Fun or None?

Fun Or None- Top Tuesday!

This post is of a top 5 of anything. Here is my top 5 dystopian novels. There are so many great ones out there I have really been enjoying this sub genre lately. If you were going to pick one up here are my choices.

5.  The Maze Runner

When Thomas wakes up in the lift, the only thing he can remember is his first name. He has no recollection of his parents, his home, or how he got where he is. His memory is black. But he’s not alone. When the lift’s doors open, Thomas finds himself surrounded by kids who welcome him to the Glade, a large expanse enclosed by stone walls.

Just like Thomas, the Gladers don’t know why or how they got to the Glade. All they know is that every morning, for as long as they could remember, the stone doors to the maze that surrounds them have opened. Every night, they’ve closed tight. Every thirty days a new boy is delivered in the lift. And no one wants to be stuck in the maze after dark.

From Goodreads

4.  The Selection

Isn't the cover beautiful!

For thirty-five girls, the Selection is the chance of a lifetime. The opportunity to escape the life laid out for them since birth. To be swept up in a world of glittering gowns and priceless jewels. To live in a palace and compete for the heart of gorgeous Prince Maxon.
But for America Singer, being Selected is a nightmare. It means turning her back on her secret love with Aspen, who is a caste below her. Leaving her home to enter a fierce competition for a crown she doesn't want. Living in a palace that is constantly threatened by violent rebel attacks.
Then America meets Prince Maxon. Gradually, she starts to question all the plans she's made for herself—and realizes that the life she's always dreamed of may not compare to a future she never imagined.

From Amazon!

3. Delirium

Before scientists found the cure, people thought love was a good thing. They didn’t understand that once love -- the deliria -- blooms in your blood, there is no escaping its hold. Things are different now. Scientists are able to eradicate love, and the government demands that all citizens receive the cure upon turning eighteen. Lena Holoway has always looked forward to the day when she’ll be cured. A life without love is a life without pain: safe, measured, predictable, and happy.

But with ninety-five days left until her treatment, Lena does the unthinkable: She falls in love.

2. Divergent

In a future Chicago, 16-year-old Beatrice Prior must choose among five predetermined factions to define her identity for the rest of her life, a decision made more difficult when she discovers that she is an anomaly who does not fit into any one group, and that the society she lives in is not perfect after all.

1. The Hunger Games

A fight to the death – on live TV. The game show where you kill or die, and where the winner’s prize is survival. In District 12, where Katniss Everdeen lives, life is harsh and brutal, ruled from afar by the all-powerful leaders of the Capitol. The climax of each year is the savage Hunger Games – where twelve boys and twelve girls from each District face each other in a murderous showdown. When sixteen-year-old Katniss is chosen to represent her district in the Games, everyone thinks it’s a death sentence. Only one person can survive the horrors of the arena. But plucky Katniss has been close to death before. For her, survival is second nature…

What are your top five dystopian novels?

Fun OR None- Mash up Monday

So the point of this post is to Mash Up Two characters you'd love to put in a story and why. So if I could create a new story by putting two characters from other books just to see how they act it would be Damon Salvatore from The Vampire Diaries and Rose from The Vampire Academy.
Why these two you say?

Well Damon is a sarcastic bad ass vampire who acts like he doesn't really car about people except for Elena his brother's girl friend. He will do anything to get what he wants and he usually gets what he wants!

Rose is also a sarcastic and most definitely badass. She is a hybrid vampire human and is super strong. She is devoted to protecting her best friend who is a vampire. She will do anything to protect her. She falls in love with her teacher. And is just plain ole awesome.

I think they would be a perfect couple they would probably fight a lot but what doesn't kill you makes you stronger right?

What do you guys think cool imaginary couple?

Oh and did any one read Bloodlines the new Vampire Academy spin off? I am kinda not wanting to because Rose was my favorite part!

Weigh In Wednesday #5

Novellas VS Anthologies

For Me I would definitely choose a Novella they tend to be short and sweet and great little stories. That isn't saying that Anthologies aren't but sometimes you won't enjoy every story in it which makes it a waste if you didn't like a few stories.  I have a few anthologies in which that happened for me and now I feel guilty that I didn't finish certain stories in them.

So now what do you think? DO you have a different reasons? I would love to know! See you next week!

For Poetry VS Prose

I love these posts kind of become my favorite meme!

Review- Wings Series #1-3 (Wings, Spells, Illusions)

Review- Wings Series #1-3 (Wings, Spells, Illusions)

By Aprilynne Pike

I started reading this series because I won an ARC of Destined and just absolutely fell in love with this series. It is uniquely original and funny. The mythology of the fairies is wonderful and very creative. As well that it has some of the best characters who are well developed and so easily connectable. So let me stop singing my praises for this series. I am currently reading the last book Destined and once I finish it I will have a separate review on that. My review will be at the bottom I am not going to separate each books review just because I read them altogether and can't really separate the books in my head. *When I reach 50 followers I am thinking of having a giveaway what book should I giveaway?* Maybe all of this series as an ebook or should I do a print book giveaway I'm not sure what book though.*

First Book In The Series- Wings

Laurel was mesmerized, staring at the pale things. They were terrifyingly beautiful—too beautiful for words.
Laurel turned to the mirror again, her eyes on the hovering petals that floated beside her head. They looked almost like wings.
Laurel's life is the very definition of normal . . . until the morning when she wakes up to discover a flower blooming from her back. As it turns out, nothing in Laurel's life is what it seems. Now, with the help of an alluring faerie sentry who holds the key to her true past, Laurel must race to save her human family from the centuries-old faerie enemies who walk among them.

Second Book In The Series- Spells

"I can't just storm in and proclaim my intentions. I can't ‘steal' you away. I just have to wait and hope that, someday, you'll ask," Tamani said.
"And if I don't?" Laurel said, her voice barely above a whisper.
"Then I guess I'll be waiting forever."
Although Laurel has come to accept her true identity as a faerie, she refuses to turn her back on her human life—and especially her boyfriend, David—to return to the faerie world.
But when she is summoned to Avalon, Laurel's feelings for the charismatic faerie sentry Tamani are undeniable. She is forced to make a choice—a choice that could break her heart.

Third Book In The Series- Illusions

"I don't do patrols, I don't go hunting, I just stick     close to you. You live your life. I'll keep you safe," Tamani said, sweeping a lock of hair from her face.   "Or die trying."
Laurel hasn't seen Tamani since she begged him to let her go last year. Though her heart still aches, Laurel is confident that David was the right choice.
But just as life returns to normal, Laurel realizes that a hidden enemy lies in wait. Once again, Laurel must turn to Tamani to protect and guide her, for the danger that now threatens Avalon is one that no faerie thought would ever be possible. And for the first time, Laurel cannot be sure that her side will prevail.

My Opinion-

When I first started this book series I already knew it was about fairies but I was still freaked out when Laurel started sprouting a giant flower from the middle of her back. But other than that weirdness I really loved the mythology of these fairies. The season in which they are born dictates the powers they have which makes Winter fairies rare and Spring very common. Laurel is a fall fairy but I always wished she was a Winter just to give her a little more importance. Like how Harry Potter is always the best wizard and the bravest. Also I enjoyed that they had many twists on Human common knowledge like Camelot and Shakespeare.

At first I was very odded out by Tamani but I quickly fell in love with his character. I just got so annoyed at how Laurel treats him, like a damn door mat. He dedicted his whole life to her and how does she repay him by staying with David.

I liked David in the beginning when they were just friends then he just got annoying when they started going out. My favorite part was when she broke up with him which left perfect room for Tamani. I think David and Chelsea would be a good couple though.

I knew something was up with Klea and Yuki. Nothing happens by coincidence ever. I also had it out for Yuki trying to steal Laurel's one true love Tamani!

So Illusions ends with a bang Yuki is a winter fairy and there are Trolls coming. I started destined so I'm not sure where exactly one ends and the other begins!

I enjoyed this series so far! Have you read it did you like it? What should I do for 50 followers?

Love Dana

Review- Jessica's Guide To Dating On The Darkside

with 4 comments

Review- Jessica's Guide To Dating On The Dark Side

I had seen this book around and had always wanted to pick it up. Mainly because there were vampires in it I know I have an obsession. So I won a copy and couldn't wait to read it. I really had no idea what it was actually about so I read the blurb. I wasn't sure if it was going to be corny or really good. And I have to tell you I thoroughly enjoyed it!

Amazon Description-

The undead can really screw up your senior year . . .

Marrying a vampire definitely doesn’t fit into Jessica Packwood’s senior year “get-a-life” plan. But then a bizarre (and incredibly hot) new exchange student named Lucius Vladescu shows up, claiming that Jessica is a Romanian vampire princess by birth—and he’s her long-lost fiancé. Armed with newfound confidence and a copy of Growing Up Undead: A Teen Vampire’s Guide to Dating, Health, and Emotions, Jessica makes a dramatic transition from average American teenager to glam European vampire princess. But when a devious cheerleader sets her sights on Lucius, Jess finds herself fighting to win back her wayward prince, stop a global vampire war—and save Lucius’s soul from eternal destruction.

My Opinion-

So when I started reading this I fell in love with Jessica's parents they were so cool. I thought Lucius was a creeper but like Jessica he grew on me and by the middle of the book I couldn't see her being with anyone else.

I loved the setting in PA. It was so funny for me personally how different it was from my city life. I would love to live on a farm in a small town.

I thought her best friend Mindy was a great character up until she didn't believe Jess anymore but the horrible cheerleader girl. I think I specifically blocked her name from my memory because I despised her so much. First she is mean to Jess and then she steals Luc and lastly she tries to get him killed. She is on my shit list. Haha.

I have to say the ending was amazing. Jess goes home to Romania and saves her people. She also get the guy as well. Perfect ending to a great book.

*** I saw on amazon that there is a 2nd book if you didn't know either it is called Jessica Rules The Dark Side I will be putting it on my To Be Read List***

Have You read this book? Did you like it? Did you hate cheerleader girl too?

Review- Pandemonium + Giveaway

with 14 comments

Review- Pandemonium + Giveaway

I read and reviewed the first book in this series Delirium not too long ago and I absolutely fell in love or rather deliria.  If you haven't read or heard of Delirium go check out my review HERE. The idea of love being a disease is very intriguing. There will be an ebook giveaway in the rafflecopter below for a choice of delirium or pandemonium.

Good Reads Description-

I'm pushing aside the memory of my nightmare,
pushing aside thoughts of Alex,
pushing aside thoughts of Hana and my old school,
push,
push,
push,
like Raven taught me to do.
The old life is dead.
But the old Lena is dead too.
I buried her.
I left her beyond a fence,
behind a wall of smoke and flame.

Spoilers Ahead!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My Opinion-

I really enjoyed this sequel. At first I had no clue where the author would take this after the ending of the last book with Lena escaping and you thinking that Alex was dead. So when it started off with Lena in the wilds and her with Raven I thought it was good. You finally understood how tough the Wilds are.

I wasn't the biggest fan of the now and later chapters. I preferred later much more!

So Lena goes to New York with the resistance which was rather cool.  She meets Julian a young advocate for anti deliria. The two get kidnapped and have to find a way to survive which was probably my favorite part of the book. Julian begins to experience so many things with Lena. They fall in love in the process.

They get found and he gets a death sentence for hiding in a place in the Wilds. We find out the kidnapping was done by the resistance and planned out by Raven too. They save Julian and they take him to the Wilds and you expect this great happy ending. Also Lena finds out her mother was alive and helped her survive but obviously didn't recognize her.

But wait Alex is alive and most likely was tortured and not so happy with Lena.

Now I can't wait for the next book!!!

And Now for the giveaway a choice of an ebook of

Delirium or Pandemonium.

Weigh In Wednesday #4 Love Triangles VS Insta Love

with 9 comments

waight-1Weigh In Wednesday #4

Weigh In Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Epilogue.  I love this post it is so much fun to write and read the posts.

Today's topic is - Love Triangles VS Insta Love

My Opinion-

I prefer Love triangles just because there is more of a legitimate love. You could love two people at the same time just for different reasons. Insta love is kind fake for me there is always going to be a bump in the road that really tests if it is real!

So the winner is Love Triangles!

What do you think?

Weigh In Wednesday #3 Contemporary VS Fantasy

with 6 comments
waight-1

Weigh In Wednesday #3

Weigh In Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Epilogue.  I love this post it is so much fun to write and read the posts.

Today's topic is - Contemporary vs. Fantasy

My Opinion -

So I tend to read fantasy. I love the escape and adventure of it. Anything can happen and I mean anything ... cough cough The Vampire Diaries The Return. For me it is an a way to get away from reality and deal with problems that I would most likely not face.

I have read plenty of contemporary mainly Nicholas Sparks. I just like the normal romance in it and the drama. But I always feel like something is missing and they are just so normal. I need a vampire or a witch in my life!

So What would YOU choose? I would love to know see you next week!
