Here is the book description-

Adam Orser: The Chronicles of Evolution
Adam Orser seems to be a regular guy, leading a fairly successful life in Toronto as a psychologist with a loving girlfriend, Jazmin.

But there is nothing ordinary about Adam.

Fate interrupts his planned marriage proposal, and a serious car accident thrusts him into a metaphysical reality behind a deep coma that holds his physical body in check. Through an advanced system of training and evolution created by the celestial realm, Adam is called to a dangerous mission with profound implications for the world he knows, and life and death consequences for one missing nine-year old girl, who is no ordinary kidnapped child. Fantastical forces are at work on both sides of the veil between the world we recognize and those yet to be discovered.

Destiny compels Adam to freely choose the part he will play in a no-limits competition between good and evil. Questions of existence, causality, and truth converge as Adam struggles to find his way back to Jazmin and a life that will never be the same.

 Author, Daniel Armand Bio:

Daniel Armand lives in Toronto, Ontario. His inspiration behind Adam Orser: Chronicles of Evolution originated during the summer of 1983, after a near death encounter offered an incredible insight into the obscured aspects of life, love, and the progression of the human spirit.

Daniel is currently working on the next novel of the Adam Orser saga. "I truly hope this novel will help inspire readers all over the globe, to embrace their spirituality. It is through clarity of mind and understanding that we may one day 'bloom' into harmony and unlock our limitless potential."

My Review and Opinions of This Book-

Since this book is about a near death experience it makes sense that the book doesn't  really pick up till then but I just wished the beginning wasn't as slow to start with. For me up until meeting Jazmin in the flashback I didn't get the point of it. Now don't get me wrong I did enjoy this book but I just wished it hooked me right away. That also is probably because I am so used to YA writing.

For Daniel Armand's writing I really liked how he extensively descriptive which produced wonderful visuals for me. I loved that the story was written in a male POV which I don't read that much and I enjoyed that a lot. I actually felt that it read almost like I was watching a movie and that is pretty great when a book is like that. Since it was 3rd person I enjoyed how it would switch between different groups of characters and flashbacks.

For the out of body experience and the battle Adam has within his mind is just crazy, crazy good. My favorite part is the introduction of the place Balezar (did I spell that right) but it brought the book into more of a fantasy realm that I enjoyed.

So all in all this book was very thought provoking it mad you dig a little deeper because there was more of greater meaning to everything. Nothing was ever what it seemed on the surface. Or at least that was what I got out of it. It was just so complex that I had trouble keeping all the plot lines and characters straight in my head. For me it was just a giant metaphor for overcoming your obstacles which was very connectable just that Adam's were pretty extreme.

This is the kind of book that when you read it again you will get more out of it I feel I missed so much so during this summer I light go back to.

Hope you enjoyed this review!

Blog Tour- Simplicity Re-Release (Excerpt & Review)

This tour is being hosted and put together by the amazing Valia Lind author of Simplicity!

A bit about Valia Lind-

Author. Photographer. Artist. Born and raised in St. Petersburg, Russia Valia always had a love for the written word. She wrote her first full book on the bathroom floor of her dormitory, while procrastinating to study for her college classes. Upon graduation, she has moved her writing to more respectable places, and have found her voice in YA fiction. Her first adult book Simplicity is being republished, while her YA science fiction is on submission to find a home.

Find her at http://wordsareinnermusic.blogspot.com and @ValiaLind.

Here is a description of the book-

Driven, beautiful Alexis Sinclair lives her life to the fullest, following her dreams of running a big company. But when her world is torn apart by a storm, everything she has ever known disappears. Now, marooned on an island with a group of men, Alexis must learn to live in a world made up of simple things. Letting go of every known convenience, she realizes how insignificant her life has become. Filled with unrequited love for her rescuer she must battle the demons buried deep inside and she must look within herself and to her faith to find the strength needed to survive.
Strong and influential, Jacob Peterson, has done all he can to survive. When the fate turned its tables on him, he learned to cope with the inevitable. Plagued by his past and secrets buried there, Jacob exerts a rigid control, refusing to succumb to the joys, and torturous pain, of strong emotions. Without considering love a gift he may never receive, he believes--he chooses to live by strict set of rules. But when a strange beautiful woman washes up on his beach, the walls that he has put up long ago begin to crumble. Is she a punishment sent from God to torment his weary soul? Or is she a gift, sent from above, there to teach him how to trust? Who is this woman? And how will he stop himself from losing his heart?
Will he learn to forgive the past in order to save the woman he loves?

Here is an Excerpt from the novel-

“Excuse me, am I interrupting something?” Jake asked running up to us with the ball, “Shouldn’t you be cheering?” He kept the ball away from others with skill while he stood in front of us. I’d rather be playing. I didn’t realize I said those words out loud until Jake called, “Time out!”
“Really?” he asked looking carefully at me.
“Really what?” I asked not understanding.
“You said you’d rather be playing.”
            “No, I didn’t!”
“I’m sure you did. You heard it too, right John?” I was hoping John didn’t hear me say that, but of course being the traitor that he is he took Jake’s side.
“Yes, I heard her say that.” I shook my head at him and smiled.
“Fine, I said it. So what?”
“So let’s play!” I caught the ball in my hands as Jake tossed it to me. So this was the way it was going to be. I could handle this. Smiling, I stood up.
            “Yes, let’s play!”
As luck would have it, I ended up on Gabe’s team, which put me in competition with Jake. Actually, I didn’t think luck had anything to do with it. Unless luck went by the name John. We took our positions and the game began. These guys were in for a treat, because I was a very decent soccer player. It came from my childhood. I used to spend summers with my friends playing every sport we could get our hands on.
Gabe took the ball in and passed it to one of the men. It was intercepted by Jake not even two seconds later. We all took of running down the court. Jake weaved and twisted the ball through the opposing team. I tried not to stare, because Jake was just that good! However, I didn’t think that was much of a secret to anyone here.
He was close to scoring and I wasn’t about to let him do that! So far the score was tied and I knew we’d be leaving as soon as someone scored. I took off after him with new determination. He was focused on the goal and he was going for it. The goalie was good but with Jake’s skill and determination I wasn’t so sure he would be able to stop him. Scanning the teams I saw an opening and took it!
Coming up on Jake’s left side, while he was going right, I stole the ball right from under him. Running up the court, while keeping the ball was a bit of challenge. I was rusty and these men were good! I was trying to pass the ball but no one was open. I could hear John and Brandon cheering from the sidelines for me. I heard someone coming up behind me and taking a chance I took a hard right doing a 360. Jake, who was right behind me, went past me in a blur. Realizing I was no longer in front of him, he turned back but I was already passing him on his left. I was now directly in front of the goal. John and Brandon were screaming on top of their lungs for me to kick. However, instead of scoring I took a chance and took the ball to the right. The goalie followed me and then, once he was almost directly in front of me, I took my shot.
As soon as the ball left the ground so did I. My feet were knocked out from under me and I landed hard on my back with a person on top of me. Looking up I realized it was Jake who tackled me! The team was cheering, because my goal attempt was successful. We won the game! I was supposed to be celebrating, but all I could do was lay there staring up at Jake as he stared down at me. Snapping out of it by the noise around us, or some inner alarm, he pulled me to my feet. I proceeded to dust myself off without looking at him. Those moments when we were on the ground I could read the emotion in his eyes. I could almost see what he felt for me. I could tell I wasn’t just some girl he knew. I was important to him even if he wouldn’t admit it out loud.
“I can’t believe you tackled me!” I exclaimed trying to lighten the mood. Jake was already pulling himself in and I didn’t want anything to spoil this moment.
“I was going for the ball!” He replied bringing his eyes up to meet mine.
“A likely story! You just thought it would be fun to tackle me!”
            “I didn’t tackle you!”
“No, I just ended up on my back in the middle of the field because I like to take random naps in the middle of all the action.” I lifted my eyebrows at him and waited for a reply. I could see he was having a hard time coming up with anything.
“Fine, I tackled you.” He finally said bending back over again to finish fixing his clothes.
“What, I don’t even get an ‘I’m sorry?’” I asked crossing my arms in front of me.
“I’m sorry,” he said not looking at me. What a creep! First, he tackles me, and then he doesn’t even apologize. And when he does apologize all I get is an obligated “I’m sorry!”
“Excuse me!” I reached over and smacked him smartly on the shoulder. The movement brought him upright and I saw that he was laughing. He was laughing at me!
“How dare you?” I exclaimed getting ready to smack him again. As my hand reached over it was caught in his.
            “Stop hitting me!”
            “Stop laughing at me!”

My Thought and Opinions On This Novel-

Now this book is not within my typical genres of scifi /fantasy but I have been trying to read more contemporary fiction and this book was definitely able to hold my attention. I loved the concept of a plane crashing and Alexis waking up washed ashore on an island that had 15 other people living on it whose plane crashed 5 years ago so basically no hope for going home.

I just have to say how much I love Jake. A brooding lost soul who is conflicted by both his past and present, he has such a hard time expressing himself to Lexi. He reminded me a lot of Stefan from The Vampire Diaries in love with a girl but his past keeps catching up with him and makes him regret his choices. But Jake happens to not be a vampire a girl could only dream. LOL. Valia is such a great writer that she was able to make us simply despise Gabe he was just so annoying but I felt kind of bad for him after awhile.

I personally enjoyed the growth of the romantic relationship and friendship between Alexis and Jake. I loved and hated his overprotective nature and that he found a way to blame himself for every little occurrence. Especially since Alexis was always so clumsy. Definitely a hazard to herself. In many ways I liked that Alexis was the only female on the island she became a great mother figure to the men and most importantly Brandon. I thought he was just plain ole adorable.

I thought it was great that Jake was the person that saved Alexis it added just a bit more to their reasons to be together for me. I have to say that I would always laugh through out the book when Alexis would think things out loud and wouldn't realize it.

The story really begins to pick up pace during the large storm that passes over the island. This part held most of my favorite scenes. It forced Jake and Lexi to work together and I almost cried when Lexi got hurt from going to save and find Brandon.

I felt that the ending was great especially that the end wasn't when they left the island. I thought the idea of the reunion was great. Lexi and Brandon bonding was great. But I was so just err I wanted to just I don't even know hurt Jake he can be so clueless. I was so upset by his reveal of his past. So they got married and it was just wonderful. Plus she is now Brandon's step mom.

So overall I really enjoyed this book. I finished it several days ago and I just can't stop thinking about it which is making it hard for me to read other books, seriously now! Loved it so much!

Here is an Excerpt of Deceived-

The glass vial felt ominous in my hand, but I did what the Angel of Death said and concentrated on the feeling it emanated. Without thinking, I pulled the stopper out of the tube and dipped the pad of my finger in the blood. As soon as my skin made contact with the sticky liquid, a shiver washed through me. The feeling of death and despair surrounded me. My body shook against the icy coldness crawling through me.
“Call the spirits forward, Gwen.”
That was easier said than done. The death within the blood was overwhelming. Whoever the blood belonged to, they had killed a lot of people. Instinct took over, and something inside of me commanded I take control of the ghosts. My body stopped quivering, a peaceful calm replaced the confusion. When I opened my eyes, a large cloud of gray hovered just behind Dorian’s back. The cloud separated and formed what looked like human shapes. It took less than three minutes for the fog to completely separate. At least fifteen spirits stood in my room, their bodies shimmering like a heat mirage.
Dorian turned to see what I called forth from the blood. “Good job. I’ve never seen a newbie pull that many ghosts at once.”
“I’m not sure how I did it,” I said flabbergasted.
“I told you it’d get easier. Once you learn to associate the feeling of death on someone, you won’t even have to think when you summon their victims.” The look of pride was hard to ignore on Dorian’s face.
I thought about every time I read the memories of the dead and what that meant. When Holly said I was more powerful than I realized, she wasn’t wrong.

Perks Of Being A Wallflower - Review

Perks Of Being A Wallflower - Review

I have been wanting to read this book since I heard it was going to be a movie with Logan Lerman, Emma Watson ( Die Hard Harry Potter Fan right Here) and Nina Dobrev ( I am OBSESSED with the Vampire Diaries). I bought this for 50 cents at a yardsale and was super excited but was already reading a book so I let my friend borrow it. She said it was FREAKING CRAZY and that she loved it. So I started it and couldn't put it down.

Watch the Trailer-

I am not going to include the blurb just because I didn't know anything about it going in but the trailer and I feel like it makes  more impact.

MY OPINION-

As you guys could tell this is not my normal read I'm a paranormal/fantasy/scifi reader but I gave this a try and I absolutely enjoyed it. For such a short book only 20o ish pages a ton of just mind blowing crazy things happened.  If you didn't already know this book is written in a series of letters by the main character Charlie to a dear friend he never comes out and says the who it was or if he knew them. This takes place in Charlie's freshman year of High School and you learn about the death of his best friend Michael who committed suicide which is just one of the highly, I want to say controversial topics, in this book. When starting school Charlie is socially awkward and extremely blunt to the point that you can't believe he says the things he says. Charlie has no friends until he meets his English teacher Bill who realizes how smart he is and gives him extra reading assignments. Through reading these classic novels Charlie learns about life and discovers himself in a way. I wish I had a teacher like Bill.

Now we have to talk about the new friends Charlie made I thought Patrick and Sam were great people but their actions weren't always the best influence on Charlie from the smoking, weed, alcohol, and even LSD. Charlie just goes along with peoples ideas and thinks he is being a good friend. Like dating Mary Elizabeth when he didn't like her or letting Patrick kiss him. There were these moments in the book when I would get so surprised by what happened that I would text my friend and be like OMG did I just read that! So to name a few crazy moments-

  • The BJ in Charlie's Bedroom that he watches which was rape because the girl said no!
  • Patrick and Brad enough ! Brad you broke his heart I don't like you very much!!!! :(
  • Patrick and Charlie kissing
  • Charlie choosing Sam in truth of dare to kiss when he was dating Mary Elizabeth HAHA
  • Charlie telling Sam he thought of her naked in his dreams.
  • All the abuse in the families
  •  Charlie's sister gets an abortion!!
  • He has a mental breakdown OK  not the worst but they found him naked on a couch!
So those were some of my should I laugh cry or just text my friend moments. This book left me wanting to know what else  happens to him and I really wanted to know how the relationship between Sam and Charlie evolves or if they even have something together.

I can wait for the movie I hope you enjoyed my review and thoughts.

Have you read it what did you think? Do you want to read this book? Gonna see the movie?

Weigh In Wednesday #6

Weigh In Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Epilogue.  I love this post it is so much fun to write and read the posts.

I haven't done this in a bit but since I am on a break from school I can keep up with it!

Todays topic: Kindle vs. Nook

I personally have the nook tablet. I absolutely love it. Both my brother and sister in law have nooks but my close cousin has a kindle and she loves it I am just not a fan. I enjoy reading on it and feel that it is super simple to upload books on that aren't from B&N. I have the kindle app on my phone for books I receive via amazon and I think it is just a hassle to use. The nook app for PC is very simple.

I love NOOK!!!!

So what about you guys?

City Of Fallen Angels - Review

with 4 comments

City Of Fallen Angels - Review

This is the fourth installment of the bestselling Mortal Instruments series. I read and loved the last three books which came to an epic close. Everything was pretty much wrapped up yes there was the mark of Cain and things you wanted explained further but I would have been happy if it ended that way. I am not saying this new book was terrible I enjoyed it but not as much as I wish I did. This is a pretty negative review but I want to tell you what I thought when reading it.

What did you guys think? LOVE IT or HATE IT

Amazon Description-

The Mortal War is over, and sixteen-year-old Clary Fray is back home in New York, excited about all the possibilities before her. She's training to become a Shadowhunter and to use her unique power. Her mother is getting married to the love of her life. Downworlders and Shadowhunters are at peace at last. And—most importantly of all—she can finally call Jace her boyfriend.

But nothing comes without a price.

Someone is murdering Shadowhunters, provoking tensions between Downworlders and Shadowhunters that could lead to a second, bloody war. Clary's best friend, Simon, can't help her. His mother just found out that he's a vampire and now he's homeless. Everywhere he turns, someone wants him on their side—along with the power of the curse that's wrecking his life. And they're willing to do anything to get what they want. Not to mention that he's dating two beautiful, dangerous girls—neither of whom knows about the other one.

When Jace begins to pull away from her without explaining why, Clary is forced to delve into the heart of a mystery whose solution reveals her worst nightmare: she herself has set in motion a terrible chain of events that could lead to her losing everything she loves. Even Jace.

Love. Blood. Betrayal. Revenge. The stakes are higher than ever in City of Fallen Angels.

My Opinion-

It took me several chapters to get really into this book and I also put it down for several months and came back to. This never happens to me. EVER! I felt that the beginning was really slow and quite frankly stupid. I didn't really enjoy the story spent so much on Simon. Not that I didn't like him as a character I do but you spend three books with Clary's story being the majority of the book and then Simon takes the lead. I hated that he dated both Maya and Isabelle, OK so your a hot vampire. Don't be an asshole about it. I always wanted Isabelle and him to be together so it bothered me that he would cheat on her.

I liked the mark of Cain protection it was spoken about rather too much. I highly disliked Camille up until the the end when everything started coming together I began to see a point in her being in the story.

So at the end of City Of Glass you have a happy ending with Jace and Clary not being related. They can actually be a couple without thinking it was incestuous. In the beginning it was good they were happy and together then Jace pulled away. He cut Clary and then went all crazy from Lilith. Come on already let someone else's relationship. But by the end once Lilith is gone ( was she dead I'm not sure that whole scene was weird to me between switching from Isabelle to them and Simon it was just so much going on) they got together. So did Isabelle and Simon and Jordan and Maya kind of are reconciling their difference as well. I liked Jordan a plot I rather liked. Maya was such a sad character and I hope that will begin to change.

So cliffhanger Jonathan takes over Jace's body well Jace hears his voice in his head. This does make me want to read the next installment which is City Of Lost Souls. Which will hopefully have the wedding!
I am definitely on the fence about this!

What did you guys think? LOVE IT or HATE IT

This is the last day of the hop and this post is 5 facts you wouldn't believe about me.

1. The Square in from Dana Square is the translation  of my last name. So I really am a square!

2. When I was young I was a horrible reader I didn't like it and I wasn't good. But I was in 3rd grade I was bored one day my brother gave me Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone and he said if I read to page 100 he would get me a gift. I did and he got me a book mark and chocolate frog!

3. After that I still didn't read the rest of the series! Until I was older but the first series I read completely was Roswell High which is what the TV show Roswell from the WB was based on.

4. I have a youtube channel where I make beauty videos but I am taking a break because I enjoy this more.

5. I am highly addicted to Twilight Fanfiction!
